WHERE CHAPTER 4 GETS STUCK

Which of these
sounds familiar?

Most results chapters stall at one of three points.
Start with the one that fits.

01 / BEFORE YOU REPORT

“I'm not sure I
ran the right test.”

Confirm that your analysis answers your research questions and fits your data before you write it up.

  • Method selection and alignment with your questions
  • Assumption checks and what to do when they fail
  • Missing data and outlier decisions
Check my analysis
02 / READING THE OUTPUT

“I have output.
What does it mean?”

Turn SPSS, R, or Stata output into numbers you understand and can explain in plain language.

  • Coefficients, p-values, and effect sizes
  • Confidence intervals and practical meaning
  • Non-significant and unexpected results

03 / WRITING IT UP

“My committee wants
it fixed.”

Make sense of committee comments and bring your tables and reporting up to APA 7 standards.

  • APA 7 tables and figures
  • Review of your drafted results for accuracy
  • Responding to committee feedback

WHAT A STRONG RESULTS CHAPTER COVERS

What your committee looks for.

01

Descriptive statistics and data screening

Sample description, missing data, and the checks that show your data are fit for the planned analysis.

02

Results for each research question

One analysis per question, with the test statistic, degrees of freedom, p-value, and effect size reported in APA 7 format.

03

Reporting without over-interpreting

State what the results show. Save meaning, implications, and limitations for Chapter 5.

For a structure, formatting rules, and example write-ups, read the free guide: How to write the results chapter of a dissertation (APA 7).

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Your results chapter is your work,
and it should stay that way.

01

You write the chapter

Dr. Yel does not write your dissertation or any chapter of it. The decisions, the interpretations, and the prose are yours. His role is to advise, teach, and review.

02

You can explain every number

Nothing is handed over unexplained. We work through each method, assumption, and result until you can defend it on your own.

03

Your program's rules come first

Programs differ in what outside help they allow. Check your policy and let your chair know you're working with a statistical consultant.

Dr. Yel declines work that would misrepresent authorship or data, such as writing chapters, altering or fabricating data, or anything your program's policy prohibits.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING

Good questions.
Honest answers.

Will you write my Chapter 4?

No. You write your results chapter. Dr. Yel helps you choose and check the analysis, understand the output, build accurate tables, and review your draft so the statistics are correct and you can explain every number.

Can you run the analysis for me?

Analyses are run together in live sessions, with you watching or at the keyboard, so you can explain each step to your committee. You keep the syntax or code from every session so you can rerun it yourself.

What if my results are not significant?

Non-significant results are valid findings, and they are not a sign that something went wrong. We can review whether the study had enough power, report effect sizes and confidence intervals, and word the result accurately without overstating it.

Which software do you use?

R, SPSS, Stata, SAS, Mplus, and Python. We use whatever your program or committee expects.

My committee asked me to redo part of my analysis. Can you help?

Yes. Bring the committee's comments and your current output. We work out what they are asking, whether a change in method is warranted, and how to respond to the feedback.

Do I need to tell my chair that I am getting statistical help?

Program rules vary, so check your program's policy and let your chair know. Many students acknowledge statistical support in their dissertation.

How much does Chapter 4 support cost?

The scope depends on your design, data, and the support you need. The free consultation is the place to discuss deliverables, pricing, and timing before you decide. See how pricing works.
